Since 2006 I have helped my clients explore their concerns that brought them to counselling, breakthrough obstacles that have left them unsure, unfulfilled and isolated. The reality is that we do not always achieve our goals, if we know what they are, and this can cause distress, anxiety and low mood. Sometimes all you know is the weight of unhappiness. Counselling with VanEssence means you are not alone, let us explore together the possibilities, finding ways of coping and strategies if required. I believe to look within is arguably challenging, yet our core essence of life is part of what gives our lives purpose, meaning and experiences. What do I mean by essence? I mean the core nature and personality of you as an individual. Maybe you have observed changes in yourself that makes you feel unsettled.
Being detached from our core essence, our true sense of self can remain hidden with a numb sense of being dissatisfied that lingers unquestioned and not explored. With VanEssence we can look at the core issues together that brought you to counselling in a professional non-judgemental caring and kind way to help you find your truth. A greater sense of inner peace, resolution by being solution focused, acceptance and maybe a better understanding of the essence of who you are and who you are becoming.

My counselling style is as individual as you are. This means I do not draw on any one individual approach alone whilst working together. I will be guided by your needs and use my professional judgement adopting an eclectic relaxed approach and style.
Free 15 minutes consultation to discuss your needs from counselling and explore if we can work together or sign post to another service. Currently offering telephone sessions only due to the COVID-19 however if preferred this can be on-going telephone sessions.
The first session will be, getting to know you, initial assessment and contracting for future sessions. Contracting is an agreement about what we both can expect from working together. Then off we go from there.

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling we will explore your goals, your personal experience and how best to implement those changes together.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I have a wealth of experience working with trauma and abuse. With professional know how I will guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Throughout our lifetime we forge many relationships, family ties, friendship connections and intimate relationships all with the intention of creating meaningful bonds. The investment can build over time, taking commitment, compromise, forgiveness with lots of effort. When these relationships breakdown we can feel immense amount of emotions. During our sessions together we can explore the meaning of love, loss and renewal.
Sometimes it is a combination of concerns. Worrying thoughts about identity, sexuality, gender, phobias, health issues, disabilities, addictions that you might want to work through.
